Having sold out of our debut album we're all set to spend the winter working on our next! We recorded live at several venues this October and we're all excited about getting the sequel ready in time for the tour we're planning for Autumn 2010. In the meantime if you didn't manage to get hold of a copy of the first album you will hopefully be able to download it through itunes in the near future.

News - October 2008

With Autumn well underway we're back from our exhilarating tour with Kerr Fagan Harbron and are making plans for our 2009 Methera outings.

After a day of rehearsal to explore new collaborative music we set out this October with Kerr Fagan Harbron to play to full houses around the country, culminating in a fantastic night at The Sage Gateshead. It was great for us to have an opportunity to use Methera's sound within the 7-piece ensemble and many thanks to all of you who came to hear this brand new music. You can read a great review of our gig at the National Centre for Early Music here.

We've still got lots of dates to confirm for 2009 but will hopefully be playing in London in April, Bradford-upon-Avon in May and Bath in June. Join our mailing list if you'd like to make sure you hear about our upcoming gigs.

News - July 2008

The debut Methera album received a rave review in the latest issue of FiddleOn magazine:
Methera choose and compose the most wonderful tunes, their string sound is sweet and clean, their decorations are subtle and expressive, their rhythms are exciting, catchy and quirky, their pure intonation makes even the most extreme discords sound fantastic, and their arrangements are original, uncompromising and clever. They make those strings ring and shout, and they make them whisper and melt. They can do a jaunty, jolly tune set, or create an almost mystical mood in which time almost stops. It doesnt get better than this!

Tracks from the album will be played on BBC Radio on several occasions in the next few weeks. If you've not yet got hold of a copy of the album then have a listen! We're on Radio 3's Late Junction on Thursday 17th July and again on Thursday 7th August. For those of you who haven't heard it, Late Junction is an amazing mix of music brilliantly presented by Verity Sharp and starts at 11.15pm. You can also hear us if you listen again to last nights programme using the BBC iPlayer at http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00cdcp9

The album is due to be reviewed on Radio 3s World Routes on Saturday 19th July, starting at 3.00pm. Hope you can listen out, or listen again!
