We had a fantastic premier tour in Sweden in September. Three lovely gigs: one in a huge converted barn, one in a converted stable and one in a converted water mill! Apart from public concerts we had two full days of workshops and participatory concerts at a couple of Steiner schools in Emma's home town, Järna. And we ran a public workshop in English folk music with 10 keen participants from age 16 to 76! In our spare time, John and Miranda took lessons from one of their heros, Mikael Marin from the super-trio Väsen. And we went to the incredibly friendly folk dance night in Jäärna - Varma fötter (hot feet!). They served yummy cake and John re-learned to dance the polska. We also played a short set for dancing, sat in the middle of the floor with swirling feet all around us - both polskas, waltzes, schottisches and English set dances. Magic! We also had the chance to kick-off a new collaboration which will continue in 2013: Methera is going to work together with the renowned Swedish story-teller Mats Rehnman to create new music to his collection of stories about weird and wonderful love. Our working title is "Strange Lovers - New folk music woven with stories of unexpected love". Our first meeting was incredibly inspiring and we look forward to premiering our collaboration in Appleby in April 2013 - the first dates for our Spring 2013 UK tour are available on the gigs page. Join our mailing list to keep up to date. Our live album, "Methera In Concert" is available from our shop. The second pressing of our debut album is also available. Both are priced at £13 including P&P. You can listen to tracks from the album on our bandcamp page and can even download a track for free. Read more in the news archive. Find Methera on Facebook:
